Born Buffalo, New York; died Stony Brook, Long Island, New York. Studied 1901-04 at ASL with H. Siddons Mowbray; 1905-06 in Holland with Willy Sluiter, Evert Pieters, and Bernard Bloomers. 1908-21 board member, vice president, and acting president of the Philadelphia School of Design for Women. 1918, associate and 1933 academician of NAD. Exhibited regularly at PAFA between 1903 and 1938; BAC 1907 and 1909; NAD 1902-1948. Member of Salmagundi Club, awarded Shaw Prize and Inness Prize in 1906. Member Allied Artists of America; American Federation of the Arts; Art Club of Philadelphia; Artist's Aid Society; Artists' Fund Society; International Society of Arts and Letters; fellowship, PAFA. 1915, awarded silver medal PPIE, San Francisco; 1923, first Altman Prize, NAD.
